[ With winter coming around, the days are getting shorter. It's a much more pronounced effect than it was back on her world, with frost and snow being rare in all but the most northern and southern regions.

It's not that she minds the cold. It's annoying, but it doesn't affect her the same way it would someone whose primary reliance is on flesh and blood.

No, what she minds is the reminder that she's alone. It's not something she thought she'd care about. But between the last experiment where she interacted with so many people, approaching her third year in this place, and the strange lack of comfort from this darkness which isn't her own, Saten is finally facing the fact that this is the first time in her entire life that she's really been alone.

She takes the opportunity presented by the warmth of the heat wave to settle down on the roof of CH7, just as the sun begins to set. Watching dying light is always comforting in a twisted way. ]

Who else out there is aligned with darkness?

[It's cold, but Teddy's only made it back from his mission with Billy just hours before this. After some much needed time just relaxing at their apartment together, Teddy's decided to spend the time enjoying the last light the sun has to give for the day.

He's walking towards the plaza, perhaps to get up on the roof of the school again. As he heads down the path and towards the Community building, however, he sees a dark shape on the roof. Upon closer inspection, he realizes that it's a person. Not just a person, though, but someone he talked to a while ago.

That's right... He practically fanboyed her power. Hahaha...

Teddy walks a little closer as a result, and once he's both in earshot and in her line of sight, he yells up to her.]

Hey! Would you mind some company up there?

[ At the sound of his voice, she looks down and narrows her eyes. She remembers him. But now she doesn't know how much of what he thought about himself during that encounter was true, or not.

But at the same time, he doesn't know how much of what she said is true, either. ]

Suit yourself.

[He smiles at that, then, instead of heading inside and going up the stairs, Teddy starts to take off his coat and, after that, his shirt.]

Awesome! I'll be up there in a few seconds - don't freak out, okay?

[It's just a standard warning, because not everyone, even here, is used to seeing Teddy tie his coat and shirt around his waist, then straighten his back and grow wings out of is back, large, green and bat-like in appearance. After all, it's much quicker to fly up there than it is to climb eight flights of stairs.

So, with that, he flaps his wings and flies upward, ascending the building much faster, as predicted. Soon enough, he flies above the roof, then lowers down onto it, his wings shifting into his back once more once he's on his feet.]

[ Freaking out is far from Saten's reaction. But her first response is, as with every time she's face with something particularly different from her own world, suspicion. ]

What's with your wings?

I'm a shapeshifter. I just make it happen, is all.

[Well, it's good not to see her surprised or freaked, like how a few other people reacted. Teddy pulls on his shirt and slides on his coat after that, and he immediately starts to rub his arms to get some heat back into them.]

I just can't get the other wings to go away.

Yes. Asking here is less annoying than going out and looking myself. There doesn't seem to be enough beings here aligned with me to make that worthwhile.

Most don't usually bring up these topics, and the village have a lot of "normal" [mundane] people. Or they're aligned with other elements.

[ Which is actually a lot nicer than she can say for anyone aligned with light, but for better or worse she has only met two of those here. ]

I do not comprehend how a composite being can be aligned with the absence of light and colour....

[Especially now that he's using darkness, but making it a part of his light.]

At one point, I plunged deep into the darkness. I will say that much.

[ She just can't fathom what such a thing would be. ]

Where I'm from, darkness isn't exactly safe. By opening up my heart to it, I lost track of the things that mattered. Turned against my friends, became a pawn of the very darkness I thought I could control.

Even after my best friend saved me, the darkness still haunted me. I tried everything I could to push it away, but that only made things worse. It wasn't until I used darkness-- used it without turning away from the light that I was able to find my own path.

Point is, I don't walk a path towards darkness. I follow the road to dawn.
