9 Black Feathers [action]

[ With the New Feather cycle still going, one might mistake the woman sitting against the fountain this afternoon in the pouring rain for a newcomer. Certainly the white dress she's discarded next to her would indicate such. But Saten's not new, just fresh back from her Mallynapping.

Initially, she doesn't have the energy to make her way even to the clothes shop. So for a good hour or two, she sits naked in the rain next to the fountain. Finally she manages to get to her feet and goes to the clothes shop, where she picks up something appropriately not white. Then she heads to CH7, where she's not quite ready to make her way up seven flights of stairs on foot. Instead she spends the rest of the day sitting against the building, because hey, she's already soaked. Once the sun goes down, she uses the darkness to slip up to her room.

... At least it's not too cold out? ]

Saten glances to the white dress next to her, now thoroughly wet and kind of muddy. ]

As long as it's not light colored, I don't care.

[ If she was offering to put forth the effort, she was more than welcome to. ]

"... Maybe we should get out of the rain..."

She was kind of freaking me out with the lack of concern. I really hoped I hadn't stumbled on another damn vampire.

[ And this is where Helios gets mildly uncomfortable. He stops in his initial advance towards Saten. His otherwise jittery movements and shifting giving away loads of detail on his sudden, abrupt, change due to her staring. He just bows his head a little as he draws slowly closer. ] I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to, um, bother you. Y-You were standing out here in the r-rain...

[ He will divert his eyes fully to the building or floor around them, yep. He also feels mildly uncomfortable, but when is that anything new for Helios? ] D-Do you need any help?

Saten kept an even gaze on him for several seconds before responding.

"There's plenty of buildings. You can go right ahead."

She wasn't about to admit to the fact that she was still a bit too weak to stand up.

[ The change in body language, at least, doesn't escape her notice. Whatever he is, it's not a threat. He wouldn't be suddenly acting so non confrontational if he thought he could hold his own if it came to that, or at least bluff his way into doing so.

She relaxes a little. ]

Are you also darkness?

Not a fan of white, huh? [...] Well. It is raining.

[And so she would prefer to be naked than wear something see-through? Good logic, Kari.]

But. Okay. Wait here and I'll go get you something!

[SKIPPING OFF NOW, BRB.]

[ It's not the see-through, it's the white itself. Like the New Feather dress. Yup. But as long as she's not getting light colors, Saten doesn't really care what Kari's conclusion is.

With not much choice even if she wanted to move, Saten waits where she is. ]

A-Are you sure? You should get inside before you g-get sick.

[ Helios winces, its a wince that isn't just in form or action but almost as if those words hurt. Darkness... ]

N-No. I...I'm not. [ He bits his lip, worrying it a little. She could see him then. Apep. The God inside of him that caused that dark stain on his soul. It hurt a little bit more when she looked at him, or perhaps it was just his imagination and anxiety. ]

Then what are you? [ She shifts a little, focusing a bit closer on him. She's quite sure that it's not her imagination that there's something inside of him. ]

[WELL she comes running back soon enough, with a nice long black coat, as well as what she figured might also fit: a baggy dark-gray sweatshirt that just so happens to have an AC/DC logo on the front, some black cotton pants, and a pair of running shoes that will probably be a size or two too big. But better than too small, right?]

H-Here! Sorry they look kind of gross... er, I mean. Like. Not very cool looking? I'm not really good with fashion stuff.


[.....she's trying so hard not to stare right now, her neck is probably about to snap from the strain.]

[ Helios shifts too, though it's more awkwardness due to being stared at than anything else. ] J-Just, um, human. A w-wizard to-to be more specific. I-I can use magic back in my own world.

A "wizard"?

[ /skepticism. Humans explicitly can't use magic back on her world, so this is a strange and suspicious concept. ]

[first_darkness]

[ Saten stares at the clothes for a few moments before taking them. She doesn't really care, but not being wet is generally a preferable thing.

So she pulls the sweatshirt on, then slowly gets the pants on (since it's kind of hard for her to lift herself up at all...). The coat she just drapes over her shoulders, because putting that on would be more annoyance than it's worth. The shoes get ignored entirely.

... Kari if you were expecting a thank you, you're out of luck. ]

Ah! Yes, that's correct. Only certain, um, p-people in my world can use it. I-I could...show you, if you wanted?

... Let me see.

[ Helios bows his focusing a little on the space around them. The first thing Saten might notice is that the rain isn't hitting either of them anymore. Helios will then make a vague gesture with his hand and pull the water from his clothes, and form it into a small orb. He smiles a little looking back at the other woman. ]

It-it's not much but this is s-some of the things I-I can do with mine.

[ She stares at the orb for a moment, then shifts again. Not towards or away from him, but just a change in her stance.

She doesn't know what to think of it. ]

... Your magic is strange.

[ Saten knows that there are different sorts of magic around Luceti. She's been around here long enough to know that. But it hasn't yet stopped being weird to her. ]

[ He smiles and lets the ball drop to the ground with a splash. ] It is p-probably to a lot of people here. Magic is very much d-different between most worlds. I-I've seen people, um, staffs and wands where mine uses none of those things.

[ He smiles and shrugs. ] Do p-people not use it in your world then?

Humans can't. [ She says it definitively. ] And there's nothing like what you just did for those who can.

Why do you have some darkness to you?

[ Helios hunches. ]

It. It was f-from a spell. [ He rubs his arm absentmindedly and only stops when he realizes he's doing it. ] It-it's nothing serious though. I-I apologize if it's...b-bothering you.

I've never met a human with darkness to them. Not even here. [ She sounds skeptical and distrusting. This is something she is not happy about. The idea that a human has darkness to them goes against one of the fundamentals of her world. One of the fundamentals she likes, thank you very much. ]

I. I-I never asked t-to have it. [ He just clenches a hand at that. No one would ever want this curse. This pain that he has to live with every single day of his life. If he could get rid of it...if he could have changed something he would in a heartbeat. ]

Do you think that should change anything? [ Unless you are objecting to it on the principle of it being darkness, in which case she is going to be even less happy with you. ]

It-it probably wouldn't h-have, no. The only way to have changed anything...would to have been not so eager or-or overly confident.

[ He frowns and looks back at Saten briefly. ] It is my own f-fault for this happening after all.
