15 Black Feathers [Voice]
( Forward dated to Thursday, the spring equinox )
[ Saten posting on the journals? Indeed it is! Something has been on her mind, and given that today's today, well. Might as well ask. ]
In my world today would be the first day of the new year. I've been here long enough to know that's not the case in this place.
Why is the new year here an arbitrary day in the beginning of winter? What significance does that hold?
[ Not that it's been bothering her. Just, you know. Curiosity. ]

Why would clocks need to be changed?

[ It is but America is good at strange concepts isn't it. Her world doesn't have any sort of America though. ]

[ Come on, that just seems sloppy. ]
Re: voice;
Because the mathematics at the time weren't perfect. They couldn't accurately track the actual movement of the earth, sun, and moon.
voice;
[ Says the being who can sense the length of daylight precisely. No Saten you just have a specialized skill set there. ]
Re: voice;
Well, they can in my time. But by that point the date was established, and moving it would have just been hassle really, so it stuck. The date's not as important as it used to be. It's just a time-keeping device now, rather than anything ritualistic.

Re: voice;
Yeah, and then you throw off a whole host of things by shifting that one day - not only on Earth, but on other planets that trade with you. We have star dates, but still. Not to mention you have to get every nation to agree to that date. It's to much hassle.
voice;
[ That's ridiculous. ]
Re: voice;
Well, I am going to have to argue that, because I've been on quite a few. There's countless planets out there aside from Earth, even if not all are populated with life.
voice;
Why keep making them after the first failure? Only an idiot would still bother trying after a few.
[ Because most planets aren't formed the way Earth was in her world, that's why. ]
Re: voice;
Um, pretty sure that Earth isn't a failure. And the Vulcans and a number of other races might be upset at being called failures.
voice;
Re: voice;
Well, for a "failure" it's oddly successful. It and many other planets.
voice;
Re: voice;
You're going to have to get more specific here, cause I think our definitions or "success" and "failure" are a biiiiit different.
voice;
We were trying to create another being. Instead it failed and turned into Earth. It changed the way our world worked for the worse.
Re: voice;
Well, just speaking for myself, Earth is a pretty grand place, though admittedly that didn't stop me from leaving it and heading out to find new worlds.
voice;
Re: voice;
You know, plenty of neat things have come out of "failures". Just because something didn't work the way you wanted doesn't make it worthless or mean it didn't work in some other way.
Also, as an earthling, I feel a moral obligation to argue with you til I am blue in the face. Don't know what your beef is, but Earth has done pretty well for itself. And besides, if something didn't do what it was supposed to - does the blame lay in the creation or the creator?
[ Argue that, missy. ]

Re: voice;
Wait, what? Earth? An Angel? Um, Earth is a planet. And it didn't kill anyone. I mean, there are natural disasters, but those aren't in our control.

Re: voice;
Huh, well, every world religion has it wrong then. Way wrong.

Re: voice;
I have this feeling you're one of those that doesn't want to make nice when you make first contact - with anything.

Re: voice;
Social graces, maybe? The sake of being polite?
voice;
Re: voice;
Do I even want to know what it takes to earn you being polite?
voice;
Re: voice;
And let me guess - your version of strength involves a lot of blood.
voice;
Re: voice;
Preferably no. I try and avoid blood.
[ Bruising was another matter. ]
