In my world today would be the first day of the new year. I've been here long enough to know that's not the case in this place.

Why is the new year here an arbitrary day in the beginning of winter? What significance does that hold?

[ Not that it's been bothering her. Just, you know. Curiosity. ]

We were trying to create another being. Instead it failed and turned into Earth. It changed the way our world worked for the worse.

Well, just speaking for myself, Earth is a pretty grand place, though admittedly that didn't stop me from leaving it and heading out to find new worlds.

Your opinion doesn't matter. It didn't become what it was supposed to be. That makes it a failure.

You know, plenty of neat things have come out of "failures". Just because something didn't work the way you wanted doesn't make it worthless or mean it didn't work in some other way.

Also, as an earthling, I feel a moral obligation to argue with you til I am blue in the face. Don't know what your beef is, but Earth has done pretty well for itself. And besides, if something didn't do what it was supposed to - does the blame lay in the creation or the creator?

Blame was not the question. It doesn't matter who's to blame for making it a failure. That doesn't change what it is. It was supposed to become another angel and it didn't. It killed hundreds of them instead. [ Well, by now that number is much higher, but she was talking about the short(er)-term. ] It did the opposite of what it was supposed to. It couldn't have been more of a failure.

Wait, what? Earth? An Angel? Um, Earth is a planet. And it didn't kill anyone. I mean, there are natural disasters, but those aren't in our control.

Earth is a planet now. It was supposed to be an angel. It didn't become what it was supposed to be and it caused the decay of all those who came after it.

Humans tend to. They'll listen to whatever lies they're fed easily. As long as it sounds good they'll eat it right up.
